Give a Helpin' Hand

All Europe fans! I found a high quality sound of Give A Helpin' Hand. Written by Joey Tempest, produced by Kee Marcello! John Leven on bass. John Norum on guitar. Ian Haugland on drum. Mic Micaeli on keyboard.

Correct song title is "Give a Helpin' Hand". Name of the project is "Swedish Metal Aid". Played and sung by Swedish all star hard rockers including Europe members and Joey Tempest, Tone Norum (John Norum's younger sister) as solo singers.

This was for raising money to save the famine in Ethiopia, Africa. Same kind of charity song of England, "Do They Know It's Christmas?" released in November 1984 by the project name Band Aid and "We Are The Word" in January 1985 by all American pop/rock star project "USA For Africa" were well known. "Give A Helpin' Hand" single was released in October 1985. opia

Hi. I created a new blog named "100 % Europe Interview". I posted abstract of Joey's talk on TotalRock radio show and the making story of Last Look at Eden video there. I think I should separate my blogs into 6 or so for making articles to be found in more easy way.

I recently changed the explanation of this blog shown at the  top of this page.  Please read it before you read articles written here.  A new thing written there is something about copyrights.  I put images or videos of Europe and other musicians only which are considered to be allowed to put on web pages.  And copyrights of anything written here both in English or Japanese letters are reserved by at least Japan's laws and regulations because I currently live in Japan and, according to Japanese government and police, laws on copyrights written in Japanese laws shall be also valid to those who live outside Japan.

Album Jacket of Last Look at Eden アルバム・ジャケット

新アルバム、Last Look at Eden のアルバム・ジャケットです。

半分に切ったリンゴの周りにとげが密集して生えている画像ですが、アダムとイブがエデンの園を追われた理由は、蛇に姿を変えた悪魔にそそのかされて、神様から「この木の実だけは食べてはいけない」と言われていた知恵の実を食べたからであって、その知恵の実とは、一般にリンゴだと言われているからです。

周りに生えているトゲトゲは、食べられないようにする為だと思います。アダムとイブがリンゴを食べさえしなければ、ラスト・ルック・アト・イーデン「エデンの園にさようなら」何てことにはならず、二人の子孫である人類も皆、エデンの楽園で幸せに暮らしていられたのですから。

A spiked half-cut apple indicates a forbidden fruit on a tree in Eden.  According to the belief of Christianity the original sin of human being is the one of Adam and Eve who happily lived in Eden, a paradise, having ate an apple against the order of the God not to eat it because it bring them wisdom.  They has not been forgiven by the God and got driven out of eden. 

At least Iraqi people believes that an old apple tree standing at a place where The Tigris and The Euphrates Rivers meat is the one whose fruit was eaten by Adam and Eve.

This song is depicting the very moment when Adam and Eve are leaving Eden.  I suppose "you" are Adam (or Adam and Eve, in some cases).  And we, all mankind, have to go with him.

I also think the answer to a question "who was your really cared?" asked to Adam is Eve, the answer to "who was open-minded?" is Adam.  I think God at least in Genesis cannot be said "open-minded".  God didn't tell the truth Adam and Eve started to own smartness when they eat the forbidden fruit.  And it is "a truth modified for you (Adam and Eve)" and I understand we can obtain the real truth (this is "And we just can buy it" mean) 

And the title "Last Look at Eden" and lyrics makes me recall The Final Countdown.  Imagine if eden means earth.  We are leaving together.

The Final Countdown partly relieve the fear of the end of the world and the judgement day, I suppose, and now Last Look at Eden partly water down our guilty feeling on the original sin.  

Both music and images of Last Look at Eden are very dramatical and  especially the former half of the video well expresses a tragic and shocking atmosphere shadowed by lyrics.  But it goes a little bit optimistic in later half.  Anyway I suppose every dramatical expressions of music, video and Joey's performance is suitable for the lyrics.

I'll post this onto Europe's official forum.  Discuss there. 

これは、アダムとイブがエデンの園を離れる間際のことをうたっているもので、貴方とは、アダムを指していると思います。そうして、私達全人類がアダムと一緒に行かなければなりません。

このラスト・ルック・アト・エデンのタイトルと歌詞には、The Final Countdown を思い起こさせるものがあります。地球が楽園であるエデンの園と重なるからです。また、The Final Countdown の歌詞にある通り、We are leaving together...皆一緒にそこから離れて行くと言うことも示唆していると思います。

3時間前に公式発表されたニュースです。

Europe、最新シングル「Last look at Eden」の発売を発表。

この曲は、本年8または9月にリリース予定の同名アルバムからの先行シングルです。

同シングルには3曲が収録されており、それ以外に、限定盤の5トラック収録のデジパックもあります。
